Dobson Pipe Organ Builders Ltd.

Founded in Lake City in 1974, Dobson designs and builds custom pipe organs for churches, universities, performing arts venues and private residences both in the United States and abroad. Each instrument is hand-made by 18 craftspeople, who then travel to the client’s building to install it. Dobson celebrates its 50th anniversary this year with a new workshop, built on its historic site on Lake City’s town square following a disastrous 2021 fire.

Bodine Electric Company is a manufacturer of small electric motors and gearmotors located in Peosta, Iowa. One of their newest products, an explosion-proof motor, is also one of their “coolest.” “Explosion-proof” does not mean the motor can survive an explosion. It means that the motor will not cause an explosion. The motor has no inherent ignition source inside (such as a starting switch) and any accidental ignition source (such as from overheating) is contained inside the motor so as not to ignite gas vapors outside. These motors are certified by UL for use in Class I Division 1 hazardous locations and are used to drive chemical injection pumps at natural gas pipelines, and in CBD distillation equipment for the cannabis industry.

Sukup Manufacturing Co.

Following the 2010 Haiti earthquake, which left 600,000 people homeless or injured, Sukup Manufacturing Co. designed, engineered, and manufactured the Safe T Home®, an 18' diameter all-metal structure similar to a grain bin but repurposed for emergency and disaster recovery efforts. Built to withstand termites, moisture, earthquakes, and hurricane-force winds, these structures have a life expectancy of 75 years. Partnering with GoServ Global, they've provided over 500 units in Haiti, sheltering communities in times of crisis like Hurricane Matthew, where they housed 40-60 Haitians each as the storm raged on. These homes, whether temporary or permanent, embody Sukup's culture of care, offering safe havens for people of all ages, from infants to the elderly, they even serve as classrooms or medical facilities. Their resilience is further emphasized by the murals adorning them, adding a touch of humanity to the stark reality facing Haiti's current humanitarian, political, and security crisis. In this context, safety is paramount, highlighting the critical role these homes play in providing security and stability amidst turmoil.

We manufacture boat docks under the name Big Docks here in Princeton, IA on the Mississippi River. Starting with our Big Docks for the boat platform, we build these amazing Tiki Bar Boats. From making motor mounts for the twin 40hp Mercury engines. To the tiki bar made from aluminum and brazilian walnut IPE wood. Next is the custom forged aluminum bamboo structure and fireproof thatch. We add sinks, led lighting, 360 speakers and even Tv's. We sell these boats all across the country with more then 80 boats in service. Customers buy our boats to start their own businesses, doing BYOB tours in their hometowns. The majority of our boats go down the the east coast and Florida but we run one ourselves right here on the Mississippi out of Go Fish Marina Bar and Grill. Our business is family run from Son, Zac Hamilton and his best friend Tyler Carter Welding and assembling the boats. Other son Jarret Hamilton taking on the machine work. And parents Bill and Annette Hamilton doing deliveries and everything in between!
